Products in this solution

A security hut – also called a guard hut, security cabin or gatehouse – gives the person on your gate shelter, a clear view of the approach and somewhere to work. Karmod supplies them in moulded GRP and insulated sandwich panel from 1.10 m × 1.10 m, with clad and bullet-resistant models for entrances that need more.

Which security hut size do you need?

One person on a narrow gateway

The smallest cabins, from 1.10 m × 1.10 m, are made for a confined pitch where one person needs shelter and a clear line of sight to the approach. They take up little ground and drop into a gateway or kerbside with no room to spare.

One officer with a desk and monitors

Mid-size cabins from 1.50 m × 2.15 m give a proper working position: floor space for a desk and chair, and room for a control panel or the equipment the role needs.

A shared control room

The largest sizes, up to 2.70 m × 2.70 m, hold desks, seating, a cabinet and control screens, and take several people on duty at once.

Higher-risk entrances

For prisons, courts, critical infrastructure, ports and similar sites, the bullet-resistant range uses armour steel panels, laminated bullet-resistant glass and steel-framed high-security doors, in eight sizes up to 3.00 m × 5.00 m.

Built for long shifts outdoors

  • Insulated against heat and noise, so the person on duty is not sitting in whatever the weather is doing.
  • Glazed for line of sight to the approach.
  • Electrical pack, sockets and wall heater available as priced options; air conditioning is available on the larger sizes.
  • Delivered ready to be sited on a firm, level base, with no fitting-out on arrival.
  • Lifted by forklift or crane, so the cabin can move when your site plan changes.

Where security huts are used

Estate gates, factory and warehouse entrances, school and hospital campuses, car parks, construction sites, event grounds and logistics centres.

FAQs

What is the difference between a security hut, a security cabin and a gatehouse?

In practice the names are used interchangeably. A security hut or guard hut usually means a small cabin for one person on a gate. A gatehouse tends to describe a larger cabin at the entrance to a site or campus. Karmod supplies all of them in sizes from 1.10 m × 1.10 m to 2.70 m × 2.70 m.

How much does a security hut cost?

Karmod security huts start from £2,290 + VAT for a 1.10 m × 1.10 m insulated panel cabin. GRP security cabins start from £3,890 + VAT. Options such as an electrical pack and heater are priced separately, and delivery is quoted to your postcode.

Does a security hut come with electrics and heating?

Electrical packs, sockets and wall heaters are listed with prices on each product page. For example, a GRP cabin electrical pack is £475 + VAT and a wall heater is £225 + VAT. Choose the options you need in the configurator.

Can a security hut be moved?

Yes. Cabins are lifted by forklift or crane and can be re-sited when your site plan changes.

Do I need planning permission for a security hut?

It depends on the location, how long the cabin will stay and your local planning authority. Check with your council before you order, and ask us for dimensions and drawings if you need them.

Do you supply bullet-resistant security huts?

Yes. The Bulletproof Security Cabin range comes in eight sizes from 1.50 m × 1.50 m to 3.00 m × 5.00 m, from £39,900 + VAT. The ballistic class is agreed for each project.
