Case study
Four Precast Security Cabins for the Entrances of Bahçeşehir University
Four oyster-white 1.50 × 2.70 m precast security cabins for the entrances and exits of Bahçeşehir University, Istanbul, including a pair at turnstiles and one at a vehicle barrier.

In 2026 Karmod produced four precast security cabins for the entrances and exits of Bahçeşehir University in Beşiktaş, Istanbul. All four are the 1.50 m × 2.70 m size, painted RAL 1013 oyster white. Here is where they stand, how they are finished and what the layout offers UK campuses and private schools.
At the turnstiles and the vehicle barrier
Karmod's photos show two kinds of entrance. At a pedestrian entrance, two cabins stand either side of a paved walkway with turnstiles between them, on paving among lawns and clipped hedges; in one view, the building behind them carries the Bahçeşehir University (BAU) sign. At a vehicle entrance, a single cabin stands beside the barrier, in front of a line of railings.
The four cabins at a glance
All four are the larger of the two Precast Cabin sizes; the UK name for the product is the Precast Concrete Cabin. At 1.50 m × 2.70 m it takes two people, or one desk with equipment and a cupboard.
| Site | Entrances and exits of Bahçeşehir University, Beşiktaş, Istanbul |

| Use | Security cabins |
| Cabin | Precast Cabin 150x270: 1.50 m × 2.70 m, or 9 ft × 5 ft |
| Quantity | 4 cabins, 16 m² in total |
| Colour | RAL 1013, oyster white |
| Year | 2026 |
| Completion time | 5 days in Karmod's project record; not a UK lead time |
The oyster-white finish
In the photos each cabin has wide windows along its sides and a full-height glazed door at one end, all in dark frames.
RAL 1013 is a pale, creamy white. Here it covers the whole body: cornice, recessed panels and pilaster-style corners alike. Even the three lines near the top of each corner, gold-coloured in the standard specification, are painted in the body colour. Other colours are available on request, so the finish can suit the buildings around an entrance.
What precast security cabins bring to a campus gate
| Campus need | Precast cabin feature |
|---|---|
| A gatehouse that suits the frontage | A cast concrete body with a deep cornice, recessed panels and pilaster-style corners |
| Matching posts at more than one entrance | Panels cast in purpose-made moulds; all four cabins here share one size and RAL 1013 oyster white |
| Two staff on one gate | Room for two people in the larger size, as on this project |
| A post staffed through the year | 50 mm stone wool insulation in walls and roof; concrete surface and Jotun exterior paint made for outdoor exposure |
| Power for lights and equipment | Factory-fitted concealed wiring, lighting and sockets with the optional £475 + VAT Standard Electrical Pack; electric wall heater £225 + VAT; no air conditioning option |
For UK campuses and private schools
Karmod lists private schools and university campuses among the places the precast cabin suits. Where a UK campus or school has separate pedestrian and vehicle gates, the same pattern can work: a pair of cabins either side of the walkway and one at the barrier.
A gatehouse that stays at an entrance for good is likely to need planning permission, and each of the four UK nations runs its own planning system, so take it up with your local planning authority first. Say if the campus includes a listed building or lies in a conservation area. Karmod can provide drawings to go with an application. On a school site, also agree who staffs each cabin; our guide to security booths at schools covers siting and staffing.
Pricing a campus gatehouse
At today's UK prices, the 1.50 m × 2.70 m Precast Concrete Cabin costs £18,900 + VAT each, or £19,375 + VAT with the £475 + VAT Standard Electrical Pack. The project record does not give what was paid for these four cabins. Delivery and offloading to your postcode are quoted on top.
Compare the two sizes in the precast cabins category. The buyer's guide to precast concrete security cabins explains base, lifting and planning points in more depth, and the precast cabin on a London private road shows the same size at a single gate.
